First and second class stamp prices will from next month rise by 10 cents and will cost euro 1.20 and a euro 1.10 respectively.

The cost of sending a letter abroad will also increase in step with other European countries whose domestic and foreign prices are also rising.

The postal corporation said that the price increases are to offset the significant decline in postings, as well as rising distribution costs.

Sending packages will also increase by 20 cents. The cost of sending a parcel via the postal office is euro 8.10.

Finns spend on average euro 30 per year to send packages, letters and cards. After the increase, the price paid per household will increase on average by euro 2 or 3 more than previously.
