The glitch which affected Sonera tele-communication network on Tuesday jeop-ardised the lives of patients at the Mikkeli Central Hospital, reported Finnish lan-guage daily Länsi-Savo.
According to the newspaper, on duty personnel and surgeons could not be reached due to telephone network problems.
Kati Myllymäki, the Medical Director at Etelä-Savo Hospital District told the newspaper that key personnel of the hospital have now been connected to another operator.
Similar cases have not been reported, said Timo Keistinen, ministerial councillor at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
“Many hospitals use Virve network which are more reliable beside mobile net-works,” said Keistinen.
