The number is almost same of the homes built across the country in the last 25 years, said a recent study by the VTT Technical Research Centre.
Elsewhere in Finland, the demand for new housing construction remains low due to weak demographic trends.
Almost 90 per cent of all new homes built in Finland are in these 14 cities. If urbanisation continues, the trend will only increase further.
The research is based on demographic projections made by the Statistics Finland in the autumn of 2015.
