The number of online applications saw a 15 per cent increase over that of the previous year.
An even bigger increase was seen in attachments for applications, which were slightly over 25 per cent in the previous year. Almost half of all attachments were sent online in 2015.
According to Kela, online transactions are by far the most cost effective way to serve customers.
A one-time transaction at a traditional office costs about 10 euros. Online services, however, cost tens of cents to process.
The most common applications sent online were for family and unemployment benefits.
The number of visitors to Kela’s website has also grown every year.
In 2015, there were 27.5 million visits. In 2010, there were only 13.9 million visitors.
