A total of 16,122 new motor vehicles were registered, of which 13,251 were automobiles in January 2016, according to Statistics Finland’s data.
The number of new passenger cars registered in January was 11,788, which was 14.8 per cent up from the year before.
First registrations increased by 11.1 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year as per the data based on the Vehicular and Driver Data Register of the Finnish Transport Safety Agency.
The most common passenger car makes first registered in January 2016 were Volkswagen, Toyota and Skoda.
The most common passenger car models were Skoda Octavia, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf and Toyota Auris, the statistics show.
