The consumption of petroleum products in the country reduced by 1.2 percent in 2015 compared to the previous year, according to the Petroleum and Biofuels Association-Finland’s annual statistics.
A total of 7.7 million tonnes of petroleum products were sold in the country last year.
The decline was even more pronounced in petrol consumption which fell by 1.6 percent. Petrol consumption has been declining for a long period now because automobile fuel consumption is declining.
Car taxation has led motorists to consider stingier cars when changing.
On the contrary, the sale of diesel increased by 1.2 percent. According to the Safety Transport Agency--Trafi, the number of diesel-powered personal cars had increased by 4.4 percent in 2015.
