New competitiveness agreement
FTimes – STT Report, Mar 14

The role of the national conciliator in the so-called ‘Finnish model’ drawn up by labour market organisations is still at a general level pending further work.

“The labour market organisations have said that detailed preparation of the model will be continued later. At this stage I cannot comment any further,” National Conciliator Minna Helle told the news agency STT in a text message.

Helle, however, said the most important thing was that the labour groups have agreed on the Finnish model and procedures during the unions’ round of talks.

“This gives the national conciliator tools to take care of own work and thus promote industrial peace,” said Helle.

There are many twists on the road towards the Finnish model. Further preparations regarding the model will only start after the whole competitiveness agreement has been implemented.

Before that, the unions are scheduled be engaged in negotiations regarding the adoption of the agreement, which should be completed by the last day of May.
