About 36000 agricultural and forestry operators have missed the deadline for updated tax return submission.

The tax administration has sent draft estimates to those whose tax returns have not come in.

In the draft return, the tax administration has estimated the amount of tax and strongly recommended a response.

According to the rule, if the information does not come by the deadline, the estimated taxes will have to be paid.

VAT-obligated farmers and forest owners are responsible for filing tax returns, even though they may not have any VAT activity during the tax year.

Last year the estimates were sent to about five per cent and this year to about 14 per cent of all the VAT-registered agricultural and forestry operators.

The change is due to the fact that this year the tax administration has not sent any seasonal tax return forms by post.
