Import of alcohol personally by travellers decreased significantly in the last one year, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

In terms of 100% alcohol, the imports fell by 8.1 per cent between May last year and April this year from that in the previous corresponding period.

Travellers brought a total of 72.5 million litres of alcoholic beverages from abroad. Converted to 100% alcohol, this is about 7.9 million litres.

Just under 52 million litres of brewery products were brought into Finland, with just under 11.5 million litres of wine and less than eight million litres of hard liquor.

Imports for liquor, wine and beer all fell, while imports of long drinks and ciders rose.
