The value of Finnish exports in January to May fell by eight percent compared to the corresponding period of last year, according to the preliminary statistics of Finnish Customs.
 
The value of exports during the first five months of the year fell from 22.4 billion euros to 20.7 billion euros.
 
In January to May, exports to European Union countries fell by six percent while 10 percent with countries outside of the EU.
 
According to the preliminary statistics, exports value in May 2016 dropped by seven percent compared to the stipulated period of last year. The value of exports in May, 2016 was 4.3 billion euros.
 
The steepest decline of exports affected electrical products, metallic products and fur skins. The value of refined oil products and timber products on the other hand increased.
 
Imports rose by four percent in May and its value was 4.4 billion euros.
