Telecommunication operators DNA and Elisa improved their earnings in the second quarter of the year.

DNA results improved sharply when its comparable results for April-June rose to 22.3 million euros. A year ago the result was 12.9 million euros.

DNA estimates that its operating result will grow this year significantly.

Elisa results improved slightly. Elisa's operating profit was 81 million euros during the second quarter compared to 79 million euros last year.

Both companies’ turnovers rose slightly compared to the corresponding period of last year.

DNA net sales increased by 1.2 percent to 210 million euros up from 207 million euros last year.

“Net sales were fuelled by the growth in service net sales (net sales less sales of goods and interconnection charges) as well as the positive development of mobile device sales. Our service net sales were boosted in particular by the increased sales of mobile subscriptions. The mobile data market continued to grow, boosted by increased smart phone adoption and wider availability of 4G speeds,” said Jukka Leinonen, the CEO of DNA.
