Pension insurance company Ilmarinen's investment return for the January-June period was 0.6 percent in the red, compared to a positive return of 6.2 percent during the same period last year.

The market value of their investments stood at 35.7 billion euros.

However, the second quarter improved compared to the yield loss of the first quarter. The return rose 0.8 percent.

Ilmarinen's investment director Mikko Mursula believes that investment prospects for this year will remain misty and uncertain.

There are significant questions around the condition of Italian banks and the consequences of the Brexit.

Shares and interest rate movements also have a big effect on central banks' stimulus measures.

According to Mursula, the European Central Bank's stimulus measures are not expected to stop, while the US Central Bank is cautiously expecting a small rate hike.
