The value of Finnish exports in June increased by five per cent from that in the same month last year, according to the preliminary statistics of foreign trade of goods provided by the Customs.

The value of the exports amounted to 4.9 billion euros.

The last time the value of exports managed a growth was July 2015.

The increase in the value of exported goods in June was due to the delivery of a ship worth 480 million euros to Germany.

Without that delivery, the exports value in June would have fallen by about five per cent compared to June last year.

Exports to European Union countries rose by 15 per cent this June while the exports outside the EU fell by seven per cent.

Meanwhile, imports to Finland increased by two per cent in the month this year compared to that in June 2015. The value of imports amounted to 4.6 billion euros.

The trade balance showed a surplus of 325 million euros in June.

Calculated from January to June, there was a trade deficit of 990 million euros.

During the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a surplus of 260 million euro, said the Customs in a statement.
