Turnover in manufacturing in the March to May period was 0.6 per cent lower than in the corresponding period of the year before, according to Statistics Finland.
Domestic sales grew by 0.7 per cent and export turnover contracted by 1.6 per cent from one year ago.
The sub-industries of manufacturing (C) were evenly divided into both contracted and grown ones. More turnover than in the previous year was generated in the textile, clothing and leather industry, 4.3 per cent, in the forest industry, 1.5 per cent, and in the electrical and electronics industry, 0.1 per cent.

The turnover decreased most in the chemical industry, by 2.9 per cent, and in the metal industry, by 1.9 per cent.
In the main categories of other industries, the turnover in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities grew by 2.4 per cent.
In turn, the turnover in mining and quarrying decreased by 0.5 per cent from one year earlier while in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply it contracted slightly more than in the year before, by 4.5 per cent.
