Pulp and Paper manufacturer Stora Enso will start codetermination negotiations for its Lahti and Heinola plants. The company plans to reduce its staff by about 60 employees.

The reason for the layoffs is the company's decision to shut down the corrugated cardboard fac-tory in Heinola and focus on packaging production in Lahti.

At the same time, Stora Enso will invest approximately 19 million euros in the Lahti factory in the form of machinery and other infrastructure. The project is scheduled to start in November this year and finish by March 2018.

The decision to close the corrugated cardboard factory in Heinola does not affect the situation of the fluting cardboard factory, the company said.

The corrugated packaging production at the Kristiinankaupunki factory will continue operations.
