Fri, 07 Oct, 2016 12:09:02 AM FTimes – STT Report, Oct 7 File Photo – Lehtikuva. Finnish defence and aerospace company Patria has received an order to supply carbon fibre structures to aircraft manufacturer Airbus for its A320 aircraft.
According to Patria, Airbus has placed a substantial order, as the A320 is the world's best-selling passenger aircraft. Manufacture of the planes will rise by one hundred, to 700 per year, starting in 2018, Patria said.
Patria Aerostructures manufactures composite structures for the Airbus A330, A380, and A400 machines, the NH90 helicopter, as well as special applications for Saab.
Patria has acquired an automatic laminating unit at Jämsä Hall. The device is intended to be used in the manufacture of products, according to the new agreement.
Negotiations on the deal lasted more than a year, said Aerostructures business unit director Petri Hepola.
