The online banking services of the OP Pohjola Bank were disrupted for 12 hours from late Sat-urday night to Sunday morning as the authority overhauled information system of the financial group.

The disruption began at 10 pm Saturday night and normalcy was restored at 10 am on Sunday, bank sources said.

The online banking services and debit cards began operating normally again.

The bank authority said that services were back to normal by 10 am on Sunday morning, as was planned in advance.

According to OP, midnight was the deadline for cash withdrawals. During Saturday night, the service interruption also affected web services and card verification services.

OP Group communications director Carina Geber-Teir said that the bank informed their custom-ers of the planned interruptions in advance. The information was also given on the website and through social media.

The maintenance work is scheduled at the quietest moments, affecting customers as little as pos-sible.

“Sometimes, unfortunately, we have to take care of our systems,” said Geber-Teir.
