Producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 1.4 per cent year-on-year in September 2016, according to Statistics Finland.
The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 1.1 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 1.8 per cent.
The fall in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by reductions in the prices of pulp, chemicals and chemical products and oil products from September 2015.
The fall in producer prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of electricity and machinery and equipment.
The export price index fell by 1.9 per cent and the import price index by 1.5 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.3 per cent.
But the Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes went up by 0.1 per cent, the data show.
Export prices were in particular depressed by the falling prices of electronic appliances and chemicals and chemical products from September 2015.
The fall in prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of paper and paper board products.
The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of chemicals and chemical products and food products compared with the previous year's September.
The fall in prices was slowed down, in particular, by higher prices of machinery and equipment.
Producer prices for manufactured products went up by 0.3 per cent from August to September, mainly due to increased prices of manufacturing of basic metals from the previous month.
