The Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri has revealed that the company is in negotiations with other actors with a view to expand its customer base.

Nokia is constantly involved in discussion with other mobile device manufacturers which do not have the company's licence.

Negotiations are also taking place with the automotive industry, the consumer industry and the television companies. New other customers, according to Suri, are governments and railway operators.

The planned expansion is attributed to the acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent which has brought the company a wide range of new products.

“Even though the majority of our revenue comes from communication producing companies, we see growth both in revenues and orders from other customers including major internet companies,” Suvi told news agencies in a telephone conference.

Expansion of the customer base for mobile networks is important because the network markets according to Suri are at the moment “soft”.

Nokia announced solid third quarter results on Thursday as well as the departures of its Chief Financial Officer Timo Ihamuotila, who will join ABB in Switzerland.

Ihamuotila will continue in his current role as Nokia CFO and as a member of the company's Group Leadership Team until December 31, 2016, and will remain as an advisor to the company until February 28, 2017, said Nokia in a statement.

Kristian Pullola, who currently is Nokia's Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller will take over as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Group Leadership Team as of January 1, 2017.
