Output of total industries adjusted for working days was 3.5 per cent higher in September 2016 compared to September 2015, according to Statistics Finland.
 
In the January to September period, industrial output adjusted for working days went up by 1.3 per cent from one year ago.
 
Adjusted for working days, industrial output (C) went up by 5.3 per cent in September from one year back. Industrial output (C) has last grown by more than this percentage five years ago.  
 
In September, seasonally adjusted output went up by 2.7 per cent from the previous month. In August, the output fell by 2.8 per cent. The seasonally adjusted output increased by 0.7 per cent in July from June.

The output grew in several main industries. The largest growth of 8.8 per cent was recorded in the chemical industry.
 
The output in the metal industry was 7.1 per cent up in September on twelve months back. Among the main industries, the output decreased most in mining and quarrying, by 37.7 per cent.
 
In the food industry, the output declined by 0.4 per cent in September, the data show.

In September, the capacity utilisation rate in manufacturing (C) was 83.6 per cent, or three percentage points higher than one year earlier.
 
In the forest industry, the capacity utilisation rate was 83.8 per cent in September, or 1.4 percentage points higher than in September 2015.
 
In the metal industry, the rate was 85.9 per cent in September, which was 2.5 percentage points higher than one year earlier.
