Bad weather and internal work reorganisations have led to delays of postal deliveries in different parts of southern Finland this week and the end of last week, said the national postal corporation Posti.

Distribution of mail has fallen behind the schedule at least in the capital city region, southwest Finland and south-eastern Finland.

The delay has affected a few per cent of the households. The majority of the citizens have, however, received their letters in time.

The director of delivery services at Posti, Juhani Vuola said the delays affected mostly the afternoon deliveries, otherwise known as the letter posts. In most cases, the delay has been for a day; however, in other cases, Posti was forced to delay deliveries for two consecutive days.

There should be, however, no further delays for the rest of the week.
