Domestic sales grew by 0.1 per cent and export turnover by 0.7 per cent from one year ago. The sub-industries of manufacturing were evenly divided into both contracted and grown ones. The turnover grew most in the forest industry, by 3.3 per cent, and in the electrical and electronics industry, by 2.9 per cent from the year before. By contrast, the turnover contracted in the chemical industry, by 1.6 per cent, in the food industry, by 0.8 per cent, and in the metal industry, by 0.2 per cent, the data show. In the main categories of other industries, the turnover in mining and quarrying increased by 9.8 per cent. The turnover in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities decreased by 0.5 per cent, and that of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 2.2 per cent from one year before. The index of turnover in industry describes enterprises whose main industry is manufacturing. The calculation of the indices is based on the Tax Administration’s value added tax data which are supplemented with data obtained with Statistics Finland’s sales inquiry. More News
