Based in the city centre of Oulu, the business incubator has been building a co-creation and co-working culture since its inception since its inception in 2012. First and foremost, it is a community and a way of acting and thinking that operates in several physical locations. The community thinks it is the right time now to spread its activities out to the university campuses and focus on strengthening the culture of entrepreneurial experimentation in a higher education context to strengthen the entrepreneurship community of the Oulu region. When business incubator branches out to the Linnanmaa campus in Tellus Innovation Arena and the Kotkantie campus, it will be able to reach out to a vast number of university students and researchers and to involve them in its activities. With this new phase, Business Kitchen targets to accelerate the generation of startups with an increasing number of students showing interest in entrepreneurship. The phase also will expedite research-based ideas finding commercialisers. “We will open more spaces in the future to reach out everyone, while continuing with our task of lifting Oulu’s startup spirit and acting as the glue to bind the entrepreneurship community. Let’s keep moving forward together,” said a Business Kitchen statement. The community has been and will continue to be an important engine for generating an active entrepreneurship community. Business Kitchen was established from the common goal of the universities and the City of Oulu to support the creation of new businesses, business growth, and internationalization in 2012 when the economy hit a rough spot.
