Development of economic relations, border crossing and visa related issues dominated the discussion held between the Finland President Sauli Niinistö and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin on Tuesday in Moscow. The Finland president hoped more Russian investment to Finland while the Russian president urged for introducing flexible process to issue Finnish visa to Russian people. Although Niinistö raised the child adoption issue pointing out that Russian children are equally treated in Finland, the Russian president remained silent in this regard. At the beginning of the meeting, Putin said that Russia is Finland's most important trading partner. In his reply, Niinistö said that the Finnish government encourage Russia to Finland to stay at the forefront of trade statistics in the future. -“ When our main markets in the European Union area is in a little bit bad situation, then of course the Russian trade may compensate the gap”, Niinistö said. Both the presidents, however, agreed to facilitate border cross issue during the hour-long meeting. The Finnish president also said that it does not help at all, if one invests only while other side not. The three-day visit of the president to Russia will be ended on Wednesday. More News
