Eighty new train drivers will remain unemployed after completing their training this year as the State Railways (VR) will delay the new recruitment for seven months, STT reported on Sunday quoting a Turku based Finnish language newspaper.
The report said that generally the VR authority offers job for immediate after completion of the training but this time the new driver will not be offered.
Even the company also cancelled the first drivers’ course scheduled for this year.
VR-Group Public Relations and Environment Director Otto Lehtipuu said that they need to reduce number of drivers and save money prompting the authority to take such decision.
The Director, however, did not explain the exact savings goals, but according to him, it is significant amounts.
The authority assured that the drivers would be employed in future after retirement of number of old drivers.
