The  Nordic Defence ministers are scheduled to meet in Rovaniemi on March 14 to discuss various current issues  including development of Nordefco activities, common training and exercises and joint Nordic participation in the UN-led crisis-management operations.

The two-day meeting will be held at the Arctic Centre (Arktikum) where the Icelandic ambassador to Finland will also participate, said a government press release.

The Finland is holding the post of president of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (Nordefco) for the year 2013 so that the Defense minister, Carl Haglund will chair the meeting.

The ministers of the Nordic countries will also hold bilateral talks and materiel-related industrial cooperation during the programme.

The Nordic defense ministers are scheduled to talk to the journalists at a press conference at the end of the meeting at 12.15 pm on March 15.

The representatives from the media are requested to be registered  with the Media and Communications Unit either by making phone call or sending email by Thursday afternoon, the press release added.
