The Helsinki city council on Monday decided to construct a 33-storeied tower hotel in city’s Jätkäsaari area.

The decision was taken following the proposal was passed by 10-5 votes among the councilors where Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), Perussuomalainen (True Finns) and Vihreä liitto (Green) supported the proposal of the tower hotel.

Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party), Suomen ruotsalainen (Swedish People's Party of Finland-RKP) and Vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) councilors opposed the proposal.
