Rompuy for action in curbing youth unemployment

A public discussion of European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and Finland Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen at the Helsinki University on Tuesday evening was disrupted for sometime due to a protest by youths.
 
The youth group of six to seven, carrying banners and placards, chanted slogans stopping for a short while the public discussion session on the future of Europe.
 
The protest began with one of the youths on a loud speaker expressed solidarity with the Europeans suffering from financial crisis.

This was echoed by the other protesters carrying banners inscribed with anti-austerity slogans.
 
The security guards, however, removed the protesters from the meeting venue for resumption of the proceeding.
 
Earlier, the EC president, Van Rompuy at a meeting with Prime Minister Katainen pointed the youth unemployment as a major challenge and emphasized to take stern measures to create job opportunities.
 
Rompuy, who found significant development in overcoming the financial crisis also admitted that  there were still challenges in this regard.
 
He also discussed various EU issues including energy and banking.
