FTimes-STT Report, May 30

A court on Wednesday sentenced a person to 10-year imprisonment on charge of killing a woman.

The Päijät-Häme district court awarded the punishment to Sammy Markus Tuikka, 39, as his involvement in killing the woman and hiding the body in ice was proved beyond doubt.

The court based on the evidences and the statement of the convict observed that the murder was not an accident and sent the accused to jail for 10 years on charges of killing and violation of grave peace for hiding the body in snow.

After the killing the accused also hid the mobile phone and the shotgun by cutting it into three pieces in different ice fishing holes.

The court also ordered that the father, mother and sister of the victim are entitled to EU 15000 as compensation for their sufferings from the killing.
