A total of 466 children were adopted in Finland in the year 2012 and the figure was almost similar to the number of adoption in the previous year, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
The number of domestic adoptions was 258, which is five higher compared to the number of 2011, said the report of Statistics Finland released on Friday, adding that the number of internal adoptions within families of registered same-sex partnerships remained unchanged at 91.
 
Out of the adopted children, 198 were girls while 268 were boys.
 
During 2012, adoptions of children born abroad to Finland numbered 208. The number was a few lower than in 2011. The largest groups in the adoptions from abroad to Finland were children born in China and South Africa.
 
Adoptions of children born in China numbered 64 while the children born in South Africa were 32.
 
The third largest group in the adoptions from abroad was children born in Russia from where 23 children were adopted.
 
The report also said that 80 percent of the adoptions from abroad were made by two parents.
