The report released on Wednesday said that the number of foreigner in different jails is now three times higher compared to the number before 2000s.
One in every 6 prisoners is now a foreigner and the reason behind the increase of foreign prisoners is liberation of movement due to globalisation, said the directors of the Helsinki and Vantaa prisons.

They, however, said that ratio of foreign prisoners in Finland jails is still lower compared to the number in other Nordic countries.
The jail authorities also felt necessity for jail staff having multi-language skill due to the increasing trends of foreign prisoners.
‘The possibility of studying the prisoners in the jail reduced due to lack of their skill in Finnish language,’ Helsinki prison chief Eeva Säisä said, adding that presently the pamphlet for the prisoners are being translated by the interpreters of different languages.
