Financial Report of 2012 municipality polls candidates
FTimes-STT Report, June 28

The National Audit office is likely to take punitive measures against two candidates of the last municipality elections for their failure to summit the financial report after the polls.

The two candidates might be fined EUR 5000 each as they did not respond to the repeated calls of the audit office till Thursday, the last day of the extended time for submission of the financial report, audit office sources said.

Sources said that although most of the candidates of the municipality elections held across the country late 2012 submitted their financial reports to the audit office at their own initiatives before the end of last year, about 1600 candidates were served notices by the audit office for their failure.

Following the notices, 1200 candidates submitted their report before the stipulated deadline of May 31 while 400 were reluctant to the notices, which prompted the authority to serve second notice to them.

But two candidates did not submit their financial report till Thursday, the last date of the extended time for the report after the second notice.

The Audit office said that it will now take punitive measures against the two candidates and they might fine EUR 5000 each, sources said.
