The VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has said that a high quality bio-fuel can be produced out of wood biomass at a cost of only one euro per litre.
A recently published report of the centre said that a technology developed in Finland can be used to transfer over half of the wood raw material energy to final product.
The technology is ready and so a commercial factory can be build, said the agency.
The VTT investigated that how quickly the forest residues can be transformed to usable fuel.
According to the results, it is possible to make renewable fuel from final felling and thinning residues with about 50 to 60 percent of energy efficiency.
If by-product heat energy can be used as district heating, then the energy efficiency can rise up to 80 per cent.
According to researches, the best energy efficiency and lowest production cost can be achieved with bio methanol. More News
