The Finnish Foreign Service has finalised the new UN strategy with a view to helping Finland promote the country's goals in the United Nations more effectively, said a press release of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
The press release said the new strategy has a strong emphasis on sustainable development and defines the themes Finland will pay special attention to in the near future.
At the practical level, the aim of Finland's work in the UN is to create the preconditions for sustainable development by advancing four themes that include conflict prevention and resolution, promotion of gender equality, support for democratic institutions and for the development of the rule of law in the work of the UN and eradication of extreme poverty.
Finland's UN strategy will be launched at the SuomiAreena event in Pori on July 17. The strategy will be presented by Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja. More News
