Sources said that the supply pipe broke at about 10:00 am and the water entered into the market, which forced the authority to close down the market for Wednesday and Thursday.
Rescue members said that the water supply pipe was broken in the nearby demolition site and damaged the shopping centre, particularly the ground floor badly.
Ahti Ylimäki of the shopping centre said that four shops of garments and sports accessories were badly damaged while the space in the basement was facing water logging due to leakage.
Ylimäki also said that the loss due to the damage could not be ascertained immediately.
