FTimes-STT Report, August 2

Most of the puppies of all breeds born during the spring and summer seasons this year in Finland were dead, according to the Food Safety Authority Evira.

The reason behind the indiscriminate deaths, however, could not be ascertained, although Evira after an initial investigation assured that the young dogs were not infected by hepatitis, said sources.

Sources said that Evira recorded number of such deaths including the last case two weeks ago.

“All the puppies were not of the same breed. Evira will investigate further to find out the reason behind the deaths,” an official said, adding that Evira has already investigated few cases but the cause of the deaths could not be ascertained.

Evira hoped that in case of any further deaths of puppies, such cases should be handed over to them directly.

The Food Safety authority urged the people to follow the instructions given at the website of Evira for sending cases to them.
