A group of young foreign journalists is scheduled to call on the European Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Alexander Stubb today and Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja tomorrow, said a foreign ministry press release on Monday.
 
A total of 19 young journalists, who are now in the country at the foreign ministry’s invitation, would make their courtesy call on as part of the Foreign Correspondents' Programme (FCP) organised by the foreign ministry.
 
Under the programme, young foreign journalists and journalism students get acquainted with Finland and the Finnish society during the month of August.
 
The programme has been arranged almost annually since 1990.
 
The aim of the programme is to provide the participants with as broad perspective on Finland as far as possible, establish a positive and understanding attitude towards Finland among them, and to increase the interest of the programme participants in Finland.

In the longer term, the programme is an investment in future media relations as part of the Ministry's public diplomacy work.
 
This year the programme, running from 5 to 30 August, is being attended by journalists from Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Spain, South Africa, India, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Portugal, Poland, France, Germany, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Vietnam and the United States.
