Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen on Wednesday urged party ministers to work for common interests of the country, not only to fulfil the party’s election pledges.

Speaking at a meeting of the ministers of the Kokoomus (National Coalition Party), the main component of the alliance government, at Joensuu, the prime minister asked the policymakers to get prepared for the changes taking place in the country under the current vulnerable economic situation.

‘The target set to serve common interests will not be achieved, if you are always stick by the election pledges,’ said Katainen.

He said every one knew well about the present economic situation across the globe and its impact was also clear here in Finland.

‘It does not mean we are heading a wrong way. But we have to take a time-befitting decision to cope with the situation,’ said Katainen, warning that Finland was going through a dangerous situation.
