FTimes-STT Report, September 1
Two persons were killed and seven other injured in separate road accidents at different parts of the country on late Friday night and Saturday.
Police said that a young man was killed and another wounded when a car crashed into a roadside tree at Ahvenanmaa area in Eckerö on Saturday.
The car with two people on board was damaged completely and the passenger died on the spot while the driver sustained serious wounds.
Rescue members took the injured driver to hospital.
Alcohol was not involved in this accident, said police.
Another person was killed when his car skidded off and fell into a roadside ditch at Keihärinkoskentie in Viitadaari in Middle Finland late Friday night at about 9:40pm.
The victim was 53 years old.
In another accident, six people were injured when a private car rammed another car from behind in Rovaniemi on Saturday evening.
The accident took place when both the cars bound for the north were running on road number-4.
At a certain stage the first car while turning left suddenly reduced speed which caused the car behind to hit it.
There were four people including a baby in the first car and two persons in the second, and all the people were injured in the accident, said Mika Hyvärinen from Lapland rescue centre. They were taken to hospital.
