Fires at Espoo market, Vantaa house
1 held for suspect sabotage

Two incidents of fire took place at a market in Espoo and a residential house at Vantaa on Sunday afternoon.
 
In Vantaa, a devastating fire at about 4:30 pm completely destroyed an apartment in a multi-storied building at Rekola area, fire-fighters and rescue team sources said.
 
The inmates of the houses were evacuated after the incident due to smoke damage, although it did not burn the other apartments.
 
Nineteen people of the damaged apartment were taken to other places for alternative accommodation for few days.
 
No human casualty was reported in the fire but 14 people sustained smoke wounds.
 
In another incident, a fire broke out at a market in Espoo at about 4:00 pm and damaged one of the shops seriously resulting temporary closure of the market for about one-and-a-half hour.
 
 The police suspected that the fire was set intentionally and arrested one person in this connection.
 
The staff of the market brought the fire under control and 50 people were evacuated unhurt in the incident.
 
The damaged shop remained closed after the fire but the rest of the shops in the market re-opened at about 5:30 pm, said sources.
 
Police initiated an investigation to find out details of the reason behind the fire.
