Photo Lehtikuva The celebration of the 150th anniversary of Finnish parliament began on Saturday amidst cultural programmes performed by the students of Kallio College at the Central Railway Station in Helsinki.
The students danced with the songs of Guard Band played 150 years ago. The hair style of the performers was similar to the style of the artists in 1863.
The parliament building will remain open for the common people on Monday as a part of the celebration programmes.

Earlier, On September 4, the Central Bank decided to release new coins including 6,000 gold coins and two-euro coins marking the 150th anniversary.

Photo Lehtikuva The two-euro special coin, designed by Petri Neuvonen, contains 1863 on one side while other side remains the same as of the existing coin. A total of one million coins will be released on the occasion.
The authority will release the 6,000 gold coins on September 17 and the price of each coin will be EUR 100. Designed by Reijo Paavilainen the gold coin will contain the crown of Russian emperor on one side while the other side will contain the impression of the beginning of Finnish regime. More News
