The Thai berry pickers who disagreed with the salary offered by a berry company on Tuesday reached Helsinki from Äänekoski.
 
They will be staying in the capital city for few more days as part of their moves drew attention of the government high-ups to settle down the salary issue, said the berry pickers who reached Helsinki in the evening.
 
The expenses for their stay in Helsinki till Friday will be provided by donor organisation which raised fund in this regard.
 
The berry pickers alleged that they were given misleading information about their earning by picking berries in Finland.
 
The tickets for their return to Thailand were not booked, although the labour ministry of Thailand assured them to bear their travel expenses.
 
Earlier, the Thai embassy officials visited the Äänekoski area on Monday where the berry pickers were residing and talked to them regarding their return to Thailand but they refused to leave Finland until the salary dispute is resolved.
 
Thailand embassy to Helsinki said that most of the berry pickers did not accept the salary terming the amount as low.
 
Terming the situation unusual in Finland, Thai embassy official said that they had sought instructions from Bangkok to know about the further course of action in this regard.
 
Berry company Ber-Ex said that some of the berry pickers has accepted the salary but others declined as they thought the amount was low.
 
Earlier, a group of about 50 Thai berry pickers working in a Berry company Ber-Ex at Saarijärvi area in Eastern Finland filed a criminal case with the police against their employer. They claimed that they were the victims of human trafficking. 
 
But allegation was rejected by the prosecutor.
