The government has taken an initiative to tighten security at the residence of the President at Mäntyniemi area in Helsinki and some other key point installations by imposing restriction on free movement.
 
The ministry of Interior already prepared a draft on Thursday for imposing restriction on free movement of the people following a proposal from the office of the President.
 
The measures should be taken to ensure security of the President and other state leaders, said the proposal sent to the ministry of Interior by the President’s office.
 
The proposal also asked the ministry to restrict public movement at some others places including mining area of Talvivaara in Sotkamo, Energy company PVO-Water power in Keminmaa, Isohaara power plant and Forssa area of aviation aerodrome. 
 
The ministry will inform the respective police office in this regard and the restrictions will come into force from the beginning of next year, ministry sources said.
 
Presently the movement is restricted at some Key Point Installations including Prison area, Factory area, nuclear power station area, aerodrome area and the summerhouse of the President, the ministry sources said.
