Tue, 08 Oct, 2013 12:09:00 AM FTimes-STT Report, October 8 Photo - Lehtikuva A court on Monday sentenced a member of the crime gang United Brotherhood to 11 years imprisonment for various criminal acts including possessing illegal arms, drugs and money laundering.
The Päijät-Häme district court awarded the punishment to Ville Johannes Jaatinen, a 38-year-old member of the organised criminal gang as allegations brought against him were proved beyond doubt.
The court also brought his previous criminal activities under consideration while pronouncing the verdict and resulting tougher punishment to him, court sources said.
The convicted person was arrested following an incident of firing that took place at Sorakuoppa in Hämeenkoski in May this year.
Päijät-Häme police recovered huge cache of 47 firearms, drugs and stolen jewellery from the warehouse of his private house.
His wife was also convicted in the case and was sentenced to jail for a short term.
United Brotherhood is a notorious criminal organization, which was established comprising three previous criminal groups M.O.R.E., Natural Born Killers and Rogues Gallery.
The gang members are involved in economical crimes, drugs and money laundering. The huge firearms recovered from the group member showed that the group has the capacity to commit serious violence.
There are about 70-90 members of the organization at different parts of Finland. The gang has three categories of membership and the members of each group is identified by particular dress and logos.
About 50 members of the group are in jail now.
