Police said that the gang hacked the computers using malware and locked the hard disk saying that police and other authorities entered into the system and shout down the computers. Later the criminal gangs asked for Euro 100 from every computer user to unlock the hard disk with the assurance of making the computer operative, said police. “Usually this happens when a person visits some vague web pages such as adult entertainment pages,” said a top official of the Communication Security Unit Cert-Fi, Kauto Huopio. The expert said that despite taking money, they did not make any computer operative. Meanwhile, investigation to find out the criminals involved in series of incidents of hacking credit cards is underway. Police suspected involvement of a young man in Espoo in connections with the incidents and after initial investigation they said that over 3,000 foreign credit card information were hacked through internet. The investigating officer of the case said that the young man had access to the Finnish data information through use of foreign servers. According to the investigating officer, the young man admitted that he had used the foreign credit cards in online shopping. Police, however, assured that people need not to take any measure to protect credit cards from the hackers. More News
