A number of cell phone users have reported fraud attempts last week as organised groups tried to cheat money out of them by sending text messages.

Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA) sources said the messages sent from a phone number registered in the United Kingdom had said the cell phone users have won prizes in a lottery draw.

The sender tried to realise money from the receivers as the transportation cost of the prize.

The fraud gang also included an e-mail address of a gmail account for further queries regarding the prize, said FICORA sources.

The authority has also warned people of such messages and urged cell phone users, who had already got the messages, to delete them from their phone sets for security reasons.
