The doctoral research, conducted by Arttu Saarinen of the University of Turku, said that good health and relationship among neighboring people make the people of rural areas a little bit happier compared to city dwellers.
The study also said that better healthcare services in the city, however, did not put any impact on in bringing happiness among the people.
“Even difference in the earnings does not impact on the happiness,” said the research, adding that the previous researches showed that children and elderly people are happier than middle aged people.
Saarinen says that this is right in suburb areas but in city centers the happiness increases with age. The research was conducted based on interviews with 12,000 people in Kainuu, North Ostrobothnia and Turku.
