Syrian children refugees, who flock by dozens in Turkey each day, fleeing the civil war in their country, play on October 4, 2013 at a makeshift camp in Ankara, where they arrived three months ago. In the central public Dikmen valley park in front of the eyes of local authorities, they build a shanty town. There are here some 250 refugees from Aleppo (northern syria) and among them 80 children. Saying that they live in very poor conditions, the Syrian refuges collect paper from garbage to try and make ends meet. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad today warned Turkey it will "pay dearly" for supporting rebels fighting to overthrow his regime, in an interview broadcast Friday on Turkish television. The Finnish government has granted EUR 14.9 million as humanitarian assistance for the people in crisis around the world, said a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday.

The support has been  given  to Finnish actors involved in humanitarian assistance, the International Red Cross, the Red Crescent Movement and various UN agencies.

About EUR 2.9 million has been allocated for people affected by conflict both within Syria and the neighbouring countries. With this allocation, the total of humanitarian assistance to the Syrians reached EUR 11.4 million.

About EUR 7.5 million has been given to those suffering in Africa. In addition, assistance has been given to  the so-called forgotten crises such as Yemen and Myanmar's Kachin Sate.
