A court on Thursday sentenced a man to 10 years in jail for killing another man in Lappeenranta in midsummer.
The South Karelia District Court awarded the punishment to Esa Olavi Ruohion for killing his 49-year old dormitory mate. The court sources said the allegations were proved beyond doubt.
The convict killed the resident of his dormitory by attacking him with an iron rod on his head, the court observed.
The judgement was combined together with his previous offences for which he had been earlier sent to one year jail by the Court of Appeal.
The court rejected his claim for self defence and protection against impending danger.
Both the victim and convictwere under influence of drugs before the incidenttook place and there was no witnessesto the murder.
