Man sentenced to life term for double murder

A court on Friday sentenced a police personnel to 10 months conditional imprisonment for his attempt to rape a woman.
 
The North -Savo district court has awarded the punishment to the police constable hailed from Kuopio as the allegations of his move to violate the woman were proved beyond doubt.
 
The court also ordered that the 36 -year-old senior constable to be terminated from service.
 
Meanwhile, the Espoo District Court on Friday sentenced a 21-year old man to lifeterm imprisonment for the double murder that took place Kaukalahti in Espoo.
 
According to the court, Mikko Harju killed a 20-year old and a 17-year old woman in an apartment house, where they had spent their evening and night on the day of killing.
 
Terming the killings as barbaric, the court observed that the convicted had met with the woman for the first time few hours before of the murder. 
 
The convict admitted that he got angry when he had seen the victims together in the apartment.
 
 He attacked the man first and later the woman as she denied disclosing the incident to him.
 
The convict admitted the facts, although denied that the intention of the attacks were for killings.
